Stefan Galinski scored an early goal of the season contender as Boston United maintained their 100 percent start to the campaign.

Substitute Galinski, on at half-time because of an injury to Jamie McGhee, blasted home a 25-yard stunner on 65 minutes to hand the Pilgrims all three points at Brackley Town on Tuesday evening.

United were full value for their victory, with Carl Piergianni rattling the bar before half-time and seeing two follow-up efforts blocked on the line.

The result was achieved despite injuries to both McGhee and Rene Steer, allied to the fact six first team players were already missing ahead of kick-off.

Brackley, who were much-changed from their three victories over the Pilgrims last season, did not force keeper Sam Vince into a save of note.

McGhee, operating at right wing-back in the absence of the suspended Zak Mills, drove an effort over the bar from 20 yards following a forceful run in the early stages.

Brackley's first chance of note unfolded with Chris Carruthers firing marginally too high following Jon Brown's partially-cleared corner.

On-loan keeper Dean Snedker clawed away Dayle Southwell's instinctive header from Steer's cross before Piergianni rattled the crossbar with a header from McGhee's corner and then saw Snedker block his two rebound efforts on the line.

Chances were few and far between after the break, with Conor Marshall skipping infield to drill a left-footer agonisingly wide from 20 yards.

United's breakthrough eventually arrived 20 minutes into the half when GALINSKI unleashed a dipping 25-yard volley which nestled into the net off the inside of the post.

Boston saw a big chance to kill the contest go begging with Southwell heading over from substitute David Fallah's excellent cross. Snedker was then on hand to keep out another drive from Southwell.

There was one final chance for the Saints, with Ricky Johnson glancing a header wide from Brown's inswinging free-kick, but United held firm.
