David Fallah and debutant Conner Robinson netted their first goals for Boston United as the Pilgrims deservedly beat Gloucester City 2-0 on Saturday.

Fallah tucked home his first United goal on five minutes and Robinson doubled the lead 15 seconds into the second half as the Pilgrims banished their recent woes with a vibrant performance.

Carl Piergianni was denied a goal by a string of outstanding saves from visiting keeper Paul White following an array of United set-pieces.

The result was wholly warranted on the balance of play, with United seeing countless chances go begging.

Fallah and Robinson were joined in the starting XI by fit-again Liam Marrs as Dennis Greene made three changes to the side which had lost to Stockport County seven days previously.

United had already passed up two chances to take the lead by the time they edged ahead after five minutes. Fallah's shot was blocked and Dayle Southwell had his follow-up diverted over the bar by Adam Connolly while Matt Williams hacked Danny Meadows' angled header off the line.

United seized the advantage when FALLAH swept the ball home after Marrs had driven goalwards following good work from strike partners Robinson and Southwell.

City enjoyed their best spell of the match thereafter and Chris Jones' header hit the bar following Sam Avery's cross. Joe Parker then saw a drive tipped wide at the near post by Paul Farman following the loanee striker's nifty footwork to skip inside Rene Steer.

United went on to create a barrage of chances before the break, with Steer's long-range drive fumbled wide by White while Southwell stabbed wide at the near post after robbing Spencer Hamilton near the corner flag.

Fallah's shot was turned behind the legs of White, who then produced three saves, two spectacularly, to keep out successive Piergianni headers following Meadows' corner deliveries.

The clearest chance for Boston arrived with Marrs somehow contriving to lift the ball over a gaping net following Fallah's excellent run and cross from the left.

United raced out of the blocks after the break and grabbed the game's clinching goal within 15 seconds. Fallah's drive was beaten away by White, with ROBINSON stooping to head home the rebound.

City threw plenty of bodies forward in search of a route back into proceedings, with George Miller heading fractionally too high following Billy Jones' inviting cross. Piergianni was then required to hack substitute Nathan Modest's drive off the line.

Back at the other end, White saved well to deny a clean through Southwell, before tipping a drive wide from sub Jamie McGhee and making one final save to thwart the luckless Piergianni.
