Boston United served up a horror show at The Jakemans Stadium on Saturday as visitors Hednesford Town left with a deserved 2-0 victory.

The Pilgrims did not muster a single effort on target throughout the 90 minutes, with David Fallah diverting a Stefan Galinski header over the bar in United's only noteworthy action in front of goal.

Close-range finishes from Paul McCone and Paul Sullivan on 39 and 43 minutes respectively won it for the Pitmen.

United boss Dennis Greene had made four changes ahead of kick-off, with Zak Mills ruled out and replaced by Liam Marrs, alongside three alterations in midfield.

Chances were at a premium throughout although Sullivan did glance a header narrowly wide following Alex Melbourne's early cross from the right.

Boston's solitary opening arrived with Fallah guiding Galinski's header over the bar following Danny Meadows' corner.

Hednesford's double salvo arrived in quick succession. Darren Campion's corner was forced home, at the second attempt, by McCONE after Paul Farman had parried his initial effort.

Ben Bailey's long throw was then not cleared and SULLIVAN turned smartly to blast the ball home from 12 yards.

The United onslaught never materialised after the break and it was Town who created further chances. Bailey's header flew wide from Jamey Osborne's free-kick, Tom Peers' low drive was grabbed by Farman while the Boston keeper was also required to keep out a drive from the clean through Melbourne.

Town missed a further chance when substitute Tom Thorley slid in at the back post but could not convert James Hurst's deep cross, although the result was long since decided.
