Boston United stretched their unbeaten run to five matches with a hard-fought point from Saturday's trip to Leamington.

The Pilgrims saw an abundance of chances go begging once again after Leamington had hit the woodwork twice inside the opening 10 minutes.

Jack Edwards had opened the scoring for the hosts on the hour mark and Dayle Southwell levelled for the Pilgrims with a cheeky backheel nine minutes later.

United secured their third draw in a row to end November's league action undefeated.

Leamington had started well at the New Windmill Ground and United were indebted to a great save from Joel Dixon to tip Danny Newton's 25-yarder on to the inside of the post inside two minutes.

Jamie Tank subsequently crashed a header off the crossbar following Lee Moore's corner delivery.

United gradually moved through the gears and created a host of presentable chances before the break. Scott Garner's downward header was brilliantly saved by debutant keeper Connal Trueman following Greg Tempest's corner while Carl Piergianni was denied by Stuart Pierpoint's clearance off the line and then Trueman's superb save high to his left.

Garner guided an 18-yard drive over the bar following Kaine Felix's cutback, while another terrific volley from the United skipper, around 25 yards out, narrowly cleared Trueman's bar.

United had their tails up and Zak Mills' swerving shot from 30 yards was beaten away by Birmingham City loanee Trueman.

The Pilgrims started well after the break too and Trueman was called upon to palm Southwell's glancing header behind following Tempest's free-kick.

The Brakes edged in front on the hour. EDWARDS won the header himself from a Stephan Morley free-kick and then spun superbly to drill clinically beyond Joel Dixon from the edge of the box.

Dennis Greene's response was throwing on Zeph Thomas and United equalised nine minutes after falling behind when SOUTHWELL backheeled home Mills' long throw.

Substitute Thomas sent a crashing drive against the Leamington bar as United pressed for a winner and United thought their rewards had arrived in stoppage time when Piergianni met Kyle Dixon's corner with a firm header.

His bullet header, however, flashed wide and penalty appeals against Pierpoint were waved away as the Pilgrims were forced to settle for another point.
