Goals from Jon Ustabasi and Connor Hall had Chorley in control by the mid-point of the first half and despite Sam Long's penalty save to deny Hall seven minutes after the break, Ustabasi and Billy Whitehouse added further goals in the second half.
Jordon Crawford did at least reduce the arrears late on for the Pilgrims - to stretch United's home scoring run into a 31st consecutive match.
United again opened well on home soil - much like they had done against Southport a fortnight ago - but the eventual tale was disappointingly similar.
Chorley edged in front in the 21st minute when Mike Calveley carried the ball through the centre of the pitch before playing Whitehouse in to cross from the right - and his deep cross was headed home at the back post by USTABASI.
Three minutes later, Ustabasi turned provider for HALL to roll home the Magpies' second goal from 20 yards.
United found brief respite but conceded a penalty seven minutes after half-time, with Ben Pollock hauling down Hall. Sam Long, however, produced a fine to save to deny Hall from the spot.
USTABASI dispatched his second header of the game in the 71st minute, before WHITEHOUSE waltzed through to poke home number four on 75 minutes, with CRAWFORD adding a late consolation for the Pilgrims with 10 minutes to play.
