The Pilgrims led 1-0 at half-time courtesy of Keenan Ferguson's first goal of the season - and some wayward finishing from the visitors during a dominant 10-minute spell ahead of half-time.

Wright steadied any United nerves with a well-taken second on 57 minutes and added United's third with 18 minutes to play.

Will Atkinson and Jaanai Gordon were back in the United XI, with eight senior players sidelined through injury and suspension, and it was Blyth who went closest early on with Nicky Deverdics grazing the crossbar from 25 yards.

A glorious throughball from Sam McLintock split the visiting defence - and FERGUSON ran on to roll a composed low finish past Alex Mitchell for the game's opening goal.

Scott Pollock was denied from distance by Mitchell, while Gordon was wrongly flagged offside when he converted Wright's cross.

Blyth created plenty of chances before the break, with Matty Cornish, Michael Richardson and Curtis Round all firing gilt-edged chances off target.

McLintock rattled the post as United regained their composure as the half-time interval approached.

The Pilgrims doubled their lead in the 57th minute when Matty Elsdon slipped, McLintock played a great ball through and WRIGHT lifted a rising effort beyond Mitchell's grasp.

Fifteen minutes later, WRIGHT bulldozed through to nonchalantly chip Mitchell and seal United's win.

There was still time for Mitchell to deny sub Alex Brown a fourth goal - alongside a late debut for 17-year-old youth team graduate Han Stevens.
