Pollock’s 49th minute strike accounted for Alfreton Town at the Jakemans Community Stadium as United ended their four-match losing streak in National League North.
With the midfield bossed by captain Tom Platt and the returning Lebrun Mbeka, United fully merited their victory over the Reds.
United started brightly, having conceded goals aplenty at home over recent weeks, and restricted a strong Alfreton side to few chances throughout.
Both sides forced brief moments of concern in the opponents' penalty area - without carving out a meaningful first half opportunity.
United took the lead four minutes after the break when Johnson Gyamfi drove forcefully at the Alfreton rearguard and with referee Abigail Byrne playing a good advantage, he pulled the ball back for POLLOCK to sweep home from 12 yards.
Sam McLintock forced ex-Pilgrim George Willis into a save midway through the second period, while Town substitute Tom Denton had a header clutched by Sam Long following Adam Lund's long throw-in.
United should have wrapped the points up in the 89th minute, but Willis excelled to keep out sub Jordon Crawford from close-range.
