The Pilgrims went toe-to-toe with promotion favourites Carlisle United and despite falling behind to Macadam in the 54th minute, equalised two minutes later through Lenell John-Lewis.

The home side were good value for at least a point - but Macadam stroked home his second of the game in the 90th minute to leave the Pilgrims licking their wounds.

United started well, with Dylan Hill forcing Gabe Breeze into a decent save. Regan Linney subsequently saw a drive charged behind following Junior Luamba's assist.

After a goalless first half, MACADAM took centre stage with a thunderous strike nine minutes after the interval to break the deadlock.

United's response was quick, with Frankie Maguire producing a fine piece of skill to craft a shooting opportunity and JOHN-LEWIS swept home following Breeze's initial save.

Breeze made a pair of further saves to deny John-Lewis, but Carlisle snatched all three points when MACADAM arrowed home a low drive on the stroke of 90 minutes to leave the Pilgrims crestfallen.
