The Pilgrims trailed to Yeovil Town courtesy of Aaron Jarvis' 17th minute strike - but restored parity six minutes later through Rooney's bullet header on the end of Matty Carson's pinpoint free-kick delivery.

United stepped up a gear after the break and sealed all three points courtesy of Hiwula's well-taken 73rd minute strike, following excellent play from Luca Barrington and Frankie Maguire.

Pilgrims' boss Paul Hurst had made three changes ahead of kick-off, with Barrington handed his full debut and recalls for Carson and Ken Aboh.

Yeovil enjoyed plenty of early possession and took the lead when JARVIS picked his spot from 25 yards to beat Dan Cameron with a low effort.

United responded positively and Carson's free-kick delivery from the left was powered home by the head of ROONEY in the 23rd minute.

The Pilgrims almost took the lead on the stroke of half-time, with Yeovil stopper required to save smartly to deny Oisin Gallagher.

Ward made two routine saves to deny Barrington at the start of the second period, before Tom Cursons rounded the Yeovil keeper, only to be denied by a backpeddling Kyle Ferguson.

Cursons found himself through midway through the second half, but failed to get the better of Ward on two occasions, with the Yeovil keeper doing enough to keep his side in the contest.

HIWULA was introduced from the bench at the mid-point of the half and handed United the lead inside five minutes, coolly rolling home after Barrington and Maguire had linked up down the right.

There was still time for Cameron to make a big save to thwart substitute James Daly - as the Pilgrims held on for a crucial win.
