Boston United 1-0 Truro City

Craig Singleton11 Apr - 20:09

Striker Jordy Hiwula scored a classy winning goal as Boston United returned to winning ways against Truro City on Saturday afternoon.

Hiwula's well-taken effort in the 15th minute, following Marcel Lavinier's exquisite throughball, handed the Pilgrims all three points against the already-relegated Tinners.

The Pilgrims were good value for their victory despite needing a last-gasp Connor Teale goalline clearance before the break to preserve their advantage.

United boss Paul Hurst had made four more changes ahead of kick-off, with key midfielder Jordan Richards ruled out with a knee injury.

Sunderland loanee Dan Cameron made the game's first save - back-peddling to tip Zac Bell's deflected effort over the bar.

The Pilgrims took the lead on the quarter hour mark when Lavinier stepped infield from left-back to slide a glorious throughball into the path of HIWULA to run on and beat ex-Pilgrim Aidan Stone with a great finish.

Lenell John-Lewis saw an effort hacked off the line by Ryan Law, while Luca Barrington lashed an effort too high when well-placed.

Cameron made a crucial save to deny Harry Charsley, with Teale clearing the loose ball off the line in the nick of time.

Barrington made a terrific burst at the start of the second half, but Oisin Gallagher was unable to steer the ball home after an unfortunate bobble.

It was an otherwise quiet half for Cameron and Stone - as United did enough to close out their fourth home victory since Hurst's return to the club.
