Boston United 1-1 Gainsborough Trinity

Josh Robinson headed the Pilgrims into a 56th minute lead and United had good chances to kill off the contest thereafter.

They failed to do so though and were punished when former loanee Ioan Evans equalised for the visitors with 22 minutes to play.

The first half was a forgettable affair, with midfield trio Lewis Hilliard, Callum Chippendale and Charlie Gatter all blazing half chances off target for the Pilgrims.

The game’s first meaningful chance led to the opening goal, with Trinity only able to partially clear a Hilliard corner and Jason St Juste’s return cross was glanced into the top corner by York City loanee ROBINSON.

Marcus Marshall subsequently teed up substitute Jay Rollins who rattled the post with a firm drive, while visiting keeper George Willis saved to deny Chippendale who arguably should have scored.

Trinity levelled on 68 minutes when James Reid’s corner was only partially cleared and EVANS looped a header over Ross Durrant to restore parity.

Willis clutched a late long-range Hilliard free-kick, while Laurie Wilson crashed an effort too high for the visitors as honours ended even.
