Five different goalscorers got themselves on target as Boston United recorded a comprehensive away victory over North Ferriby United on Saturday.

The Pilgrims led 4-0 at half-time, courtesy of goals from Ashley Hemmings, Gregg Smith, Reece Thompson and Brad Abbott, as the division's bottom side struggled to contain their rampant visitors.

Adam Bolder netted a consolation for the Villagers from the penalty spot but Kabongo Tshimanga restored United's four-goal lead in the closing stages.

With fit-again ex-Ferriby full-back Stephen Brogan joining Smith in the starting XI, United made an electric start.

Thompson, also operating against his old side, was taken down inside the penalty area by Kojo Kyei and HEMMINGS stroked home the resulting spot-kick inside the first minute.

The Pilgrims doubled their advantage four minutes later when SMITH arrowed home a low drive after a Hemmings corner had found its way across the penalty area.

Ex-Pilgrim Ross Durrant saved well at the feet of THOMPSON, who eventually added to United’s lead in the 17th minute when he fired home after Hemmings had delivered an inviting free-kick and Abbott had rattled the post.

Ferriby’s solitary chance before the break fell to Carl Stewart, but his edge-of-the-box drive was straight at namesake Jon Stewart in the United goal.

Smith teed up Brogan to blaze across goal and wide but United were soon four goals to the good. Hemmings produced a fantastic run from deep inside his own half and ABBOTT latched onto the eventual ball across the box to steer home his second goal in United colours.

United were queueing up to add to their tally after the break, with Andi Thanoj, Thompson and Brogan all wayward with their finishing.

Jay Rollins had an effort hacked off the line by Ferriby sub Jack Mail before the hosts reduced the arrears with 11 minutes to play following a Ben Middleton foul on Jerome Slew. BOLDER lashed home the resultant penalty.

United re-asserted their four-goal advantage with eight minutes to play when Thompson burst clear down the right to square the ball for TSHIMANGA to guide home his 12th goal of the campaign.
