Boston United lost their unbeaten home record on Tuesday evening when they suffered a 3-0 reversal at the hands of an impressive Spennymoor Town.

The Pilgrims fell behind three minutes before half-time and despite a strong spell after the break where they created numerous chances, Town scored two late goals to add gloss to the scoreline.

Glen Taylor netted twice for the Moors, ahead of Andrew Johnson's third a minute from time.

United boss Adam Murray had been forced to make one change to the side which had beaten Chorley, with full-back James Clifton ruled out through illness.

Brad McGowan, making his second appearance in amber and black, produced a terrific goalline clearance to deny David Foley in the eighth minute.

Johnson then advanced to blast an effort marginally wide as the visitors continued their strong start.

Spennymoor took the lead with 42 minutes played when Foley wriggled free to blast a ball across goal which was touched home by TAYLOR under pressure from McGowan. George Willis had saved well from Ryan Hall moments earlier, but was powerless to stop Town taking the lead.

The Pilgrims came alive after the break, with Kabongo Tshimanga’s drive deflecting over and Chris Chantler superbly clearing off the line to deny Brad Beatson.

Tshimanga lifted another effort over the bar following Taron Hare’s cross, while Ashley Hemmings’ inswinging corner rattled the post, before visiting keeper Dan Lowson denied Tshimanga and substitute Karl Hawley in quick succession.

Spennymoor effectively killed the contest on 74 minutes when Foley found TAYLOR who, after neatly turning Jordan Keane, fired low past an exposed Willis.

It was well and truly game, set and match in the 89th minute when Rob Ramshaw and Foley teed up JOHNSON to roll home number three.
