Returning from a 14-day Covid-19 isolation period, the Pilgrims started strongly at AFC Fylde and led through Jordan Burrow's 20th minute strike but the tables were turned after the break.
Liam Nolan equalised with a deflected effort in the 54th minute and Nathan Shaw sealed the points for the hosts 10 minutes later.
With debutant Mitch Rose deputising for the injured Tom Platt and Paul Green replacing Andi Thanoj, United took the lead when Chris Neal could only parry Terry Hawkridge's drive and BURROW buried the rebound.
Ross Fitzsimons preserved the Pilgrims' lead five minutes later when he blocked decisively with his legs to deny the clean through Jordan Hulme.
Neal made two further first half saves to thwart Hawkridge, who was proving to be a thorn in Fylde's side.
Nick Haughton rattled the crossbar four minutes into the second half, but it took only five more minutes for the Coasters to equalise with NOLAN crashing home a low effort from outside the box, which took a slight deflection to wrongfoot Fitzsimons.
Nolan subsequently produced an heroic block to keep out a thunderous Luke Shiels drive and Fylde capitalised to take the lead when Hulme shrugged off challenges to drive the ball across from the left and SHAW applied the finishing touch from close-range.
