Wright's first and sixth minute strikes accounted for Darlington at the Jakemans Community Stadium as the Pilgrims stretched their unbeaten home run to 10 matches in the process.

The visitors' Jake Cassidy received an 11th minute red card following a crude challenge on Paul Green.

United were unchanged from their 2-2 draw against Chorley and got off to a blistering start, with Green threading WRIGHT JNR through to dink the ball over Tommy Taylor within 47 seconds.

Marcus Dewhurst stood tall to keep out Cassidy in the fourth minute and United doubled their lead two minutes later when Scott Duxbury's forceful run teed up WRIGHT JNR to bend home his second of the night.

The Quakers' quest to get back into the match took a significant turn for the worse when Cassidy was red-carded on 11 minutes after clattering into Green just over the halfway line.

Duxbury himself went close to United's third before the break - while United's dominance continued after half-time with Taylor saving from Tom Platt and then Wright Jnr.

Dewhurst flew across goal to keep out Jack Lambert midway through the second half, before producing heroics to stop Rotherham United loanee Jake Cooper reducing the arrears nine minutes from time.

Jordan Preston skewed a late effort wide after meeting fellow sub Danny Elliott's cross, but the match was long since won for the Pilgrims.
