Boston United 6-0 Corby Town

The Pilgrims thrashed their NPL Division One Midlands 6-0 at the Jakemans Community Stadium, with Garner and Elliott on target in both halves.

Jordan Burrow and Fraser Preston also netted towards the end of the first half as United avoided the proverbial banana skin to sink the Steelmen in style.

The Pilgrims took a 16th minute lead when Shane Byrne's inswinging corner evaded Burrow and his markers at the near post, only to be met by a stooping header from GARNER six yards out.

Eight minutes later, United edged further in front with Burrow nodding down Fraser Preston's deep cross from the right, with ELLIOTT applying the finishing touch from close-range.

Garner was denied his second by a brilliant Matt Hall save with his legs, only for BURROW to divert a Byrne drive into the bottom corner six minutes before the break.

Fraser PRESTON added United's fourth three minutes before half-time; waltzing through Corby's offside trap to slam home a clinical effort beyond Hall.

ELLIOTT was denied by Hall at the beginning of the second period, but did soon manage to add his second and United's fifth with a brilliant curling 18-yarder in the 51st minute.

Hall prevented Elliott from completing his hat-trick with another fine save, before GARNER struck from close-range after substitute Jake Wright Jnr's header slammed the post from a Byrne corner.

There was a late cameo from the bench for United youngster Finlay Armond, who made his senior debut as a 77th minute replacement for Connor Dimaio.
