Veteran goalkeeper Paul Bastock kicked off his second spell with Boston United in March 2011. Having made a club record 625 appearances in his first stint with the Pilgrims between 1992 and 2004, Bastock returned after a seven-year absence following an injury to first choice keeper Dan Haystead. Following a string of impressive performances, Bastock agreed a new deal in the summer of 2011, having stretched his appearances record to 634 by the conclusion of the 2010-2011 campaign. He had originally joined the Pilgrims in 1992 following spells with Coventry City, Cambridge United and Kettering Town and went on to establish all kinds of records during his first stint at the club. He was named as player of the year in 1992-1993 and 2002-2003 and was an ever-present in the club’s opening two Football League campaigns. The Leamington Spa-born keeper played for the likes of Dagenham and Redbridge, St Albans City and Rushden and Diamonds during his seven-year break from life with the Pilgrims.
