The trio were on target in United’s 3-2 first round home success against Football CV Reds, despite two goals in response from visiting striker Shaun Okojie.
Tempers flared in the closing stages and United’s Jack Hall and Reds’ Toby Sanders were red-carded for an 85th minute scuffle.
Boston struck first with only two minutes on the clock when Lewis McKue swung in a superb early cross which was met by the head of SQUIRE looping the ball over the onrushing Jamie McAlindon.
After a tentative first 10 minutes, the visitors mustered up a chance through Okojie who sprang clear, only to be denied by a great save from Sam Vince. Joe Briers then had the chance to double Boston’s lead but saw his header go narrowly wide from a Squire cross.
The first half ended with Football CV Reds in control, only to be halted by brave Boston defending. A last-ditch Josh Spencer challenge prevented Okojie from firing from close-range and Vince was quick off his line to again prevent Reds drawing level.
The pressure finally told in the fifth minute of first half injury time when Korey Morgan latched onto a long ball before clipping it across the face of goal for OKOJIE to tap in.
Football CV Reds started the second half again in the ascendancy with Prince Salifu threatening Vince’s goal with a shot from range and a volley on the turn. OKOJIE doubled his tally on 63 minutes dispatching a cool finish past Vince to give the visitors the lead.
The second goal for the visitors then sparked Boston’s resurgence with Squire testing the palms of McAlindon following a surging run.
The equaliser for the Pilgrims came on 74 minutes. ANDRIULIONIS was the beneficiary of a superb knock-down from Briers, firing in an expertly-struck volley from 25 yards.
DEVLIN was then on hand to power home a close-range header from a McKue free-kick and complete the Boston comeback.
The game lost momentum late on following a fracas between Hall and Sanders, leaving both teams with 10 men. There was still time however for Boston to extend their lead but Briers’ long-range free-kick was well held by McAlindon.
The Pilgrims saw out the closing stages to secure a deserved 3-2 victory in the first round of the Youth Alliance Cup.
