After trailing to Conor Green’s early strike, Billy Hodgkiss’ dramatic stoppage time header had sent the match to extra-time and when Louis Saebe struck five minutes into the additional period, United were on the brink of a cup upset.
Ollie Roome struck for the Stags in stoppage time of extra-time though and Town eventually prevailed 3-2 on penalties.
Corey Newman and Liam Moran successfully converted spot-kicks for the Pilgrims, but Daniel Worthington, Dominic Goddard and Miles Lynch were unable to replicate and Town squeezed through.
