Holmes adds attacking verve

Holmes adds attacking verve

Craig Singleton30 Jun - 09:00

Boston United have added attacking depth to their squad by recruiting versatile performer Jack Holmes from the EFL.

The 24-year-old has joined the Pilgrims from Rotherham United, who are preparing for life in League Two in August, having suffered relegation from League One at the end of last season.

Holmes scored his first two League One goals in the Millers' 3-2 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers in May – and now arrives at the Jakemans Community Stadium on an initial one-year contract, with a further year's option.

Capable of playing wide or in a central attacking midfield role, Holmes' versatility is likely to be a major plus point for management duo Paul Hurst and Luke Waterfall.

The Leicester-born attacker played non-league football for the likes of Halesowen Town, Hereford FC and Stamford AFC prior to his ascent to the EFL with Rotherham.

The move is subject to final Football Association and National League ratification.
