The former Blackburn Rovers man, who will turn 23 during his loan spell at the Jakemans Community Stadium, has been recruited to provide additional options on United's left side, particularly with Kai Mauro potentially set for a spell on international duty with Gibraltar.

In addition to making 25 senior appearances for Barnsley, United's newest recruit also spent a productive loan spell north of the border with Motherwell in 2023-2024.

Gent will wear squad number 17 for the Pilgrims and could make his debut in the National League Cup against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening.
