League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans' perspective ahead of the new season — which kicks off this Saturday.

Boston barmy Thomas Carter puts his side under the lens...

The new season is nearly upon us. What have the fans got to look forward to?
All the leagues are so hard to predict and anything can happen. It’s not over until the final day of the season.

Only four other teams lost more games than Boston United last season. How will the signings of Simon Ainge and Luke Shiels help this?
Last season we had a good defence but this time having Simon Ainge and Luke Shiels, they both have experience at this level so hopefully they will be successful.

What’s been the best bit of business done over the past few months?
I think Kabongo Tshimanga’s move to Boreham Wood is good. He played well for Boston United and Oxford City and he was expected to go into the EFL.

So, what will be different this season from last?
This year in the National League North and South, only two teams get relegated, so I think the relegation scrap is going to be closer than ever.

Who will be your one to watch coming August 3?
For Boston United, it will he interesting how our new players play in the league. We have had a good pre-season, so fingers crossed things go to plan. But in the rest of the division, Gateshead will be an interesting team as they have had a few issues off the pitch.

Who are the other sides to watch out for and could be in the promotion mix?
National League: Wrexham, Solihull Moors, AFC Fylde, Boreham Wood, Eastleigh. National League North: Spennymoor Town, Chester, York City, Altrincham, Boston United, AFC Telford United, Hereford, Brackley Town, Darlington, Kidderminster Harriers.

What ground are you most looking forward to visiting and why?
King’s Lynn Town because it will be on Boxing Day and it will be a derby match.

What opposition player would you most like to see in your side — and what makes him so good?
Jordan Hulme (Altrincham) is a great player who scores a lot of goals.

Finally, the key question — where do you predict your team will finish next season?
I think Boston United will finish in fifth place.
