The 22-year-old made over 100 appearances for Forest B during his time at the City Ground – and was in the Europa League matchday squads against Sturm Graz, Braga and Ferencvaros last season.

Hammond also spent a spell on loan at Northampton Town during the second half of the campaign – and now heads to Lincolnshire in the next stage of his career.

He is known as a player capable of appearing in the centre of midfield or at centre-half.

Hammond's arrival takes United's summer transfer business into double figures, following the previously-announced signings of Gavan Holohan, Nicholas Pozo, Kai Mauro, Terrell Agyemang, George Ward, Jack Holmes, Connor McBride, Lewis Shipley and Luke Faxon.
